Open Question: what do you think, if a book is categorized as young adult should it be ok for it to have profanity in it?

I recently got a book out of the young adult section over by harry potter and was shocked at some it's content. I mean if a cd has swearing on it you have to be 18 to purchase it, if a movie has Sexual content it's rated R.

Open Question: Why can men be so selfish?

We are both grown adults (27 and 32) and his dad was just here for 2 weeks living with us, in our little home, every day, everyday. I'm not even going to pretend it was a cake walk but I did Ok. My dad's 60th Birthday is this weekend and every of us kids, including my BF, have been asked to arrive up for the weekend and spend some time with him. Now, my dad and I aren't terribly close and no, this isn't exactly what I want to do with my weekend but it's a big birthday and should be made a big deal. I run every this past my man and 1.) He actually doesn't think he's coming with me until I say something to him which is just weird because of course he should arrive with me. 2.) He made sure I knew that he would go but that he didn't want to and he wasn't glad about it. To me, I think he should just cease whining and close up about it, you know? Suck it up, be supportive and don't make me worry about one more thing. Anyone agree with me or look a different perspective that perhaps I've overlooked?

Open Question: Is this pandering and what can I do about it?

I don't know if the images will show or not, and I don't know if every the information is untrue. The first girl talked about, the information is untrue because I looked her up. I'm the last girl; yes, I'm 16. But the image I uploaded [I'm sitting on a toilet in a corset, bottoms, and thigh high fishnets] was meant for a private folder on myspace that my fiancee was going to look at but I had only made it friends only. My mistake, but I'd have preferred I'd been told instead of having my image nabbed, but thats the price you pay for things like that, I receive it. This was posted the same day I uploaded the picture, leading me to believe this girl is stalking me. She hacked her exes myspace [my best pal] and took it off before someone told me they could look it so I could fix the album setting. every she did was blurr out my face with photoshop. I just need to know whether its pandering or libel or either, and can I take her to civil court for it? Oh and in the pix if you cant look them, the 'worst' picture up is of the girl supposedly in jail. She's in a white bikini on a boat, smiling at the camera. The others are girls in tanks and shorts. the 2nd to last is in a tight longsleeve sweater and a long skirt. I know this was done with malicious intent because it was supposed to be a 'warning' to me when I hung out with her ex at the mall earlier the same day she decided to try to receive even. If any more info is needed, ask..? Imagine being 21 years old and spending time in prison for taking a picture.... This women did; Not much of an adult. Still a teen herself in some peoples eyes... And this is what she did with her time. It might look like harmless pictures but not to police and even a Judge This use to be a singer; She was arrested and charged with prostitution on Myspace; And those are just the pictures they COULD show you on the news and internet!! And its starting younger. Those 3 are 17; Seniors in high school... But there willing to give up there innocents to 'Look Good' for myspace. And we condone these things!! And this girl.... shes 15! Can you really incourage that; Accept that!?! This girl is 16 years old....!! If your going to prostitute yourself on Myspace like that you are very disturbed! She needs help and any other girl out there doing these things are just discusting! Prostituting is illegal. cease this madness and keep someone you might know! cease using Myspace as a way to show off your body! Add a star if you agree that this is wrong and keep sending it; Its only going to cease with our help * * * * * * * * * * * ****** * * *** * * * **** ******** ** * * <33

Open Question: I am confused on how to treat adult acne.?

Almost every of the topical medications dry the skin out. Too much drying and the dead skin blocks pores and causes more breakouts. I need to use a moisturizer after shaving to prevent razor burn. It seems as though these two things offset each other. Any suggestions on a good routine? Thanks.

Open Question: Common-Sense House Rules for College Student Living at Home?

My daughter is a college freshman, attending classes full-time at the local Community College, working 3 part-time jobs, and has a lively social life as well. She's a great kid. She graduated high in her class, earned a 4.0 for her first college semester, LOVES school, and has never given me a bit of trouble. I never put many restrictions on her because I never HAD to. She's always been very trustworthy and independent ... never had to nag her to do homework, always gets to class and work on time, etc. So what's my problem, right? Since she still lives at home, I think she should reasonably be expected to follow a FEW home rules, such as: Letting us know if she isn't coming home at night, and where she'll be staying. Letting me know if she will or won't be here for dinner. Keeping her bedroom and bathroom (half?) clean (yes, I know she's busy!) Doing her possess laundry Helping out a bit around the home I think we're pretty lenient with her as it is, and I feel like she's taking advantage of a good situation. I've already explained to her (over and over!) that she can pretty much do what she wants, as long as she lets me know what/where, etc., ... mostly so I don't worry. She doesn't seem to think she should have to "report" to her parents, since she's an adult. I also don't think it would kill her to unload the dishwasher or take out the trash once in awhile. Am I being unreasonable? I don't have a single other problem with her and don't want to receive in the way of her independence, but I also don't want her to think she can live here for free without some accountability to her family and appreciation for what is provided to her. Thanks for your help!

Open Question: Why do people wear foundation?

Like what exactly does it it do? I only wear mascara, lip gloss and eye liner..whenever anyone dares put foundation or blusher on my skin I just run a mile..no one is putting those chemicals on my skin! It's just so bad for your skin, it clogs your pores and gives you spots and I could never imagine doing that to my skin. I'm talking about kids and teens, I think it's ok for adults to wear it as they need it. But at my school, there are 12 and 13 year olds who smother their face with foundation! Eww! When they're 20, their skin will be so damaged! Do you wear foundation, and what exactly does it do?

Open Question: Is it possible as an adult to obtain human breast milk as a dietary supliment?

I'm a bit of a health nut, and I hear such great things about human breast milk, it seems like it would only be logical to use it as a dietary supplement, I mean, it is impossible to receive cancer of the digestive system while drinking human breast milk. I realize some look it as a taboo, but that is just a cultural belief, certain Native American tribes thought eating fish was barbaric and below them LOL. And if we can drink a cows breast milk, what's wrong with the stuff we ate every the time as babies? And I have heard of people with a fetish for that sort of thing, but neither of those describes me. Like I said I'm a health nut, and I want the absolute best for my body. Open Question: can only have 1 guinea pig. baby or adult better?

since i can only have one guinea pig, is having a baby guinea pig better or an adult? i have a baby now but every time i hold her she bites me. not lightly but actually drawing blood. it hurts like crazy. and when i put her on the floor(towel on the carpet) she runs off and almost gets lost below the desk or furniture. since i can only have one i think the babies should have a pal. but i can't because the money's too tight to buy twice the food and twice the vet bill. one is enough for me anyway. and i saw that adult guinea pigs can live on their possess better (with attention from me of course) and is less prone to biting pretty difficult. i wash my hands before and after but she just wont cease exploring my needy hands.

Open Question: D/s question about hand restraint advice- suggested knots? what type of rope?

I'm a tad on the s side of things, but my partner isn't even in the ballpark, so I actually have a couple questions- 1- How do I talk my partner into being more D? 2- Besides an adult store, what other options do I have (suggestions, please) by way of hand/wrist restraints? 3- If we were to use some nice of rope/cord for hand/wrist restraint, what nice of rope should I receive, and also, knot should we use? 3- Besides a safety word, what other "rules" are there when it comes to D/s in the bedroom? Links with pictures and step-by-step instructions are very welcome! If you don't know what D/s is, then you probably shouldn't answer. The way my bed is built, I don't know that shoe laces would be long enough. The bed is wood, has drawers, but there is a spot where the headboard attaches to the sides/drawers where restraints could be tied/attached. I'd rather not damage the bed, so nothing difficult (cuffs, etc). BDSM... no M, thanks.

Open Question: Has anyone tried a homeopathic treatment to heartworm for their dogs?

My oldest dog has adult heartworms, no microfilaria and she is asymptomatic. Thank goodness I did a routine blood test. She's on treatment, but I was curious to know if homeopathics really worked or not since it's such a serious situation. I've used homeopathics for allergies and eye problems for my dogs and they responded well. I didn't know if there was anything I could give my dog in addition to the treatment she's receiving to boost her digestive health and immune system as well as detox organs like her liver. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Did you conclude this from your possess experience, someone else's experience, research, or just hear-say? .... Thank you. I actually already give her Omega 3s and yogurt, but she has had diarrhea since her treatment started yesterday. I suppose that's normal though.

Open Question: Polite way to bring up someone moving out of your house?

My Dad is currently living with me, my husband and two kids. This is the second time he's lived here. He moved out of his home 2007 after he got laid off and couldn't pay bills. He got a good job, and his possess place, but "forgot" to pay a lot of his bills and moved in Sept 08. We haven't asked for rent, so he could receive his finances together to receive a place. Its taking a toll on us, since the bills are higher and we pay for every the food. He still owns a home and is renting it out to family members. They haven't paid in months, so he's kicking them out. He makes just as much money as my husband, but never has money. He drinks/parties it away. When he moved back in this time, he said he'd just need til the first of the year. He doesn't even look for a place anymore. He has the money to blow while he lives here. I am expecting our third child in July and he's in his/her room. He has had plenty of time to find a place to live & has the money to do it. I've helped as much as I can. I want to tell him to grow up so to talk and take control of his life and finances. He shouldn't depend on us to let him move in and out at will any time he gets behind in bills. He is perfectly capable of paying them, he just procrastinates. When he and my Mom were still married, she did every the bill paying. Its been 5 years since they divorced so he's had time to adjust to doing that himself. He doesn't look that he's stressing me out with the drinking and not acting like an adult. I'm not close to my Mom at every. He's really my only parent. My Dad has always been there for me, but I feel taken advantage of at this point. How do I say any of this without causing a big argument?

Open Question: Why say that certain holidays are "just for kids"? Why should they be?

Don't misunderstand me. Holidays should be fun for kids. I have a daughter and I LOVED making holidays fun for her - especially Halloween and Christmas. Things like trick-or-treat and Santa are great. However.... If we make holidays only for kids: 1) We lose the original meaning of the holidays because they began (even Halloween) as days of great importance, not kids' holidays. 2) We lose a lot of tradition. It is up to the adults to carry on tradition. 3) We do every the providing, pay every the bills, and establish every the rules. Why shouldn't we like the holiday? (By keeping part of a holiday "adult" I am not referring to drinking or partying) Nature mom - what beautiful traditions! Teaching your kids about their ancestors, and showing them financial responsibility - wonderful!

Open Question: Junior vs Adult Skis (weight and skill parameters)?

I have an 11-year-old boy who weighs 140 pounds and is an advanced skier. He participates in weekly NASTAR races. We are looking for new racing skis - one store told us he should be on an adult ski because 120 lbs is the limit for junior skis and another store said he should still be on a junior ski because an adult ski would be too difficult for him to carve on. I would adore some guidance from an experienced racer who is not the person trying to sell us skis.

Open Question: Ladies: Why being RICH matters? ?

As a young mature adult, I wonder what nice of information the media (Cosmo, The Hill, Women’s Health, Sex and the City) is feeding to the female population. I came across an article that sparked my interest. The title was “How to Date a wealthy Guy.” As a guy who earns a decent wage but still moderate (not six figures but five figures), I couldn’t help but feel a little shocked by the title. In some ways, it definitely made me feel unconfident about myself. So I wanted to ask the majority of women on this site about why ‘a man being wealthy’ appeals to you? Why do these wealthy men attract you? I want to know if there are those of you who ‘ADMIT’ that a wealthy man is attractive but often deny so, just so you don’t want to arrive across as shallow. Understand that it doesn’t make you shallow but rather it is a preference of yours. Thoughts?

Open Question: Studying out-of-state?

I plan on leaving the current state I'm in (Virginia) and entering a new state, so I can receive away from some minor things and mature myself both as an adult and a man. Well there are a few states that I had in mind, but one in particular that I have my eyes set on and that is CALIFORNIA. I've done some researching and discovered the state universities of certain states offer the best out-of-state tuition. For example, in the state of California (CSU - Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Chico, Dominguez Hills, East Bay, Fresno, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, Northridge, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Marcos, and Stanislaus; New York (SUNY - Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Farmingdale, and it goes on forever). These state universities when compared to other universities in the state (i.e., CSU - against UC) and (SUNY against CUNY) you can keep a lot of money. My problem now is how to narrow down schools in these states and then decide which ones I might want to visit at some point later on. I'm currently enrolled at a community college, my intended major is Biology, I have a Grade-point-average of a 3.0 and hopefully finish and receive my A.A. by the end of 2010. Actually, now to think of it, I would prefer to live with my aunts who live in Berkeley, CA. I look that there two schools not too far their area, San Francisco SU and CSU East Bay. What do you guys and ladies think?

Open Question: My wedding ceremony etiquette....?

I've been to a few ceremonies where the vows have been spoiled by screaming kids, or kids running amok and crawling below chairs etc. Would it be completely wrong for me to ask only adults to attend? What are your thoughts? Of course I wouldn't mind them coming to the meal or the evening celebrations, but that could also be a logistical nightmare for the parents! Uh, this is not easy!

Open Question: Reading my way into adulthood?

Hey there! I'm going through a bit of a rough time at the moment. I didn't like university and now I'm living at home with my parents, which is difficult to say the least. I think I'm having a bit of a teenage rebellion (even though I'm 20!) and I'm now in the (somewhat difficult) process of defining myself as and adult and away from that of my parents.. in other words, I'm shedding childhood and adolescence and trying to become an adult. I can feel quite lonely sometimes, so does anyone know of any books that deal with this nice of transition.. I really open to any suggestions. I know Jung wrote a lot on this stage and the problems some people encounter with sexual issues and feeling of inferiority, so anything like that would be great. But also novels, poems, or writings of any nice would be most sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much ;)

Open Question: do you show border collies?

i recently got a border collie puppy. her sire is UKC and international champion. her mom is out of working lines. what are the chances she we will be able to show. i show papillons in obedience, conformation, and juniors so i know about showing dogs. she has big bone thick puppy hair that will be long as an adult straight front and rear, she moves nice and has a level topline, she is black and white(not that it matter). her mom is split face blacka and white and her dad is blue merle.she is regular marked. if i bred her to a black and white male is there a chance for merle or split face puppies? any other info thanks she is AKC,UKC,ABCA registered and she was her breeders pick of the litter. i was just winderin if anyone has finished a pup like mine i am not going to spay her. Did ewe know that dogs can't be shown if they are altered. She is ABCA but i probally won't take her papers from her breeder.

Open Question: Girly Kid-Friendly Restaurant in San Diego?

My 5 year old niece is VERY girly, into princesses and fairies. We'd like to take her out to a special dinner for her bday (~$20 per dish, per adult) in the San Diego area that is kid-friendly. Kid friendly meaning that it at least has a kid menu, not one that is crazy noisy. I've also considered doing an afternoon tea, but none of the major hotels that I've found (Westgate Hotel, Four Seasons) seem to have a special tea catered for kids. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Open Question: What can we do to steer people away from smoking?

My idea was to cease giving smokers access to government funded medicare to treat smoking related illnesses. I personally find this fair. To say, "OK, you are an adult. This is a free country. You may take your chances and smoke at your possess risk as long as you are willing to pay for treatments of your smoking related diseases either out of your pocket or with your privately funded insurance companies. The federal government is not interested in funding treatments these self inflicted ailments caused from something you knew would hurt your body." And no, I don't worry about the slippery slope of using similar funding cuts to people who overeat, people who drink excessively and destroy their liver, or people using recreational drugs. Bottom line, I think people shouldn't depend on the federal government to take care of their health. But the general public isn't quite as radical on that issue that I am. So what is a better deterrent than the one I propose?

Open Question: University Interview?

I have my university interview tomorrow for Adult Nursing. I'm undecided whether to have my hair up or down, does it look unprofessional to have it down? Also I'm not sure what questions to ask them at the end because I'm pretty clued up on the university and the course. Some people say that it is better if you ask questions though because you look interested. Any help appreciated.
